Students this week from Mrs. Gutierrez’s World History class have been playing town ball, an early precursor to baseball. The classes are playing on the football field, in honor of the Royals’ recent postseason success and the history of baseball.

The game is different from baseball in many aspects, but the thing that Mrs. Gutierrez finds appealing is how “equal” the game is. “There are rules in place so that no specific skill set is at an advantage,” Gutierrez said of the game.

The class certainly has responded well, many of the students responded feeling closer to their fellow classmates as a result of the game. It sure is amazing what a baseball team can do to draw people together.
