On Tuesday, Sept. 11, vice principal Jared Jackson received an email informing him that he had won the Area 1 Assistant Vice Principal of the Year Award. He was nominated by principal Jarred Fuhrman.

“I have never been recognized on a statewide basis as an administrator. It is an honor to receive this,” said Jackson.

This award is given by the Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals (KASSP), which is an affiliate of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

According to the NASSP website, “The [NASSP] National Assistant Principal of the Year program annually recognizes outstanding middle level and high school assistant principals who have succeeded in providing high quality learning opportunities for students.”

Jackson attributes his success to the school as a whole, not just his own work.

“BLHS is a great place to work and we have a great team of staff and students that allow me to come to work and give it my best. I love my position and the growth we are making as a school. If we continue to do things The Bobcat Way, we all will continue to be recognized for our achievements,” said Jackson.

Jackson and other winners will receive their awards at the 2018 KASSP Honors Reception, which will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 in Wichita.
