2018 Midterm Voting Comes to Close; Laura Kelly Wins Governor

Written by: Lane Barrette, Co-Editor

Since 1957, the office of Kansas Governor has been prone to frequently switch parties every election. This election continues that trend with the election of Laura Kelly (D).

With the conclusion of the 2018 U.S. House of Representatives’ midterm, Sharice Davids (D) became the first openly gay member to represent the state of Kansas and also became the first Native American woman to serve in Congress, along with Representative of New Mexico Deb Haaland (D).
