On Dec. 6, the Scholars’ Bowl team had their last varsity meet of 2018 at Turner High School. It was split into two pools with a total of 20 teams. There were a total of nine rounds, and the Basehor-Linwood team won four. In their pool, St. James Academy and Olathe South moved on to the semi-finals. Bishop Miege and Olathe North moved on from the second pool.

“Overall, I think that our team performed pretty well. It really is a luck of the draw on questions,” said senior Emily Tady.

The team hasn’t practiced much at all this season. There were several interruptions that caused the team to lose five points every time they answered the question wrong.

“To improve, I think we could have a little more confidence in our answers, and at the same time, think before we buzz in,” said Tady.

The next Scholars’ Bowl meet is on Dec. 10 at Lansing High School. If anyone is interested in joining Scholars’ Bowl, contact the sponsor, Ben Katzenmeier.
