To avoid bad weather, the Bobcat Relay was moved up to April 5. With over 15 medalists as a whole, the girls’ team took first, while the boys’ team took third.
“[The meet] was awesome. All of our high jumpers placed and got medals. It was fantastic,” said high jump coach Garrett Eckols. “It was a lot of fun to see everyone come out and watch all of the events in the stands.”
The team had several people break their previous personal records (PR), including junior Emily Tady in the 3200M.
“[Setting a PR] feels amazing. It feels like you didn’t do as good as you did until you hear the time and know you beat your previous time by over ten seconds. It’s a really good feeling,” said Tady.
Several long distance runners placed, including Bryant Byers who placed 2nd in the 1600M, as well as Rylea Oliver, who set a three second faster PR in the 800M.
“Overall, on our perform today on the distance side, was a B+. Our Girls 4×800 relay team looks very strong and our boys are really learning a lot,” said Peterson. “We know that we have a lot more work for us to be where we want to be, which is state qualifying.”
