On Tuesday, the girls’ swim team went to Lawrence High School for their second meet. Even though the team is practicing and competing with Lansing, the girls broke four BLHS swim records at the meet. Lawrence, Lansing, Desoto, Piper and Shawnee Mission West competed. Lawrence won with 516 points and Lansing/BLHS placed second overall, scoring 280.5.

“I thought that it went really well,” said junior Maria Stieben. “It was a super fun experience and while we might not have gotten first place, everyone swam their hearts out and cheered each other on. One of the relays I was in got DQ’d [disqualified] for a false start, but hopefully on Saturday we don’t get DQ’d [disqualified] and manage to take the win for our heat.”

The girls’ have a home relay meet at Lansing on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The Lansing relay meet is the only meet in the state that is only comprised of relay swim events.
