Bobcats Maul the Golden Bears
January 31, 2021
The Bobcats dominated the Turner Golden Bears throughout the game Friday night, and made the game nearly impossible for Turner to comeback before the end of the first quarter. Friday marked the biggest margin of victory this season for Basehor-Linwood after a 83-16 win.
The Bobcats started out the game scoring 19 straight points due to good shooting and excellent defense. With 10 steals and a variety of blocks in the first quarter, Basehor-Linwood had plenty of fast break opportunities from juniors Jordan Brown and Trevor McBride. Brown ended the quarter with 10 of his 17 points from the game. The Bobcats jumped to a 30-2 lead to end the 1st quarter, and had no signs of looking back.
The second quarter was much of the same as the Bobcats continued their red-hot shooting. 3-pointers from senior Isaac Stanton helped the lead grow up to 50 before the halftime break. Friday’s starters combined for 42 points and were able to put the game on cruise control for the second half.
The second half started off great due to an outburst from senior Chandler Miller. According to head coach Mike McBride, Miller was the first center to make a ‘3’ in school history. He followed up his shooting with blocks and a dunk at the other end.
Basehor-Linwood put on a show and it was a big thanks to Brown with a game-high 17 points backed up by 9 from McBride. The boys hope to keep this form up when they travel to play Baldwin on Tuesday.
