The girls’ soccer team beat Eudora 5-0 Tuesday night in their final home game. Eight seniors played their last soccer game at BLHS.

“My soccer career coming to an end is very bittersweet for me. I only played soccer for three years during high school and I enjoyed every minute of it. Lucky for me, I didn’t completely bawl my eyes out at my senior night, but I felt very touched that the underclassmen were so giving and supportive throughout the game,” said senior Cecilee Huber.

Before the start of the game, the seniors were recognized for their accomplishments in school and on the field. With years of experience under their belt, they had some advice for their underclassmen teammates.

“The advice that I have for underclassmen players is to work as hard as you can and remember why you’re on the field. There’s a reason that you are playing, so keep your head up during the hard times and stay humble through the good times. Also, keep your body healthy and stretch. Injuries suck and you’ll hate yourself if you know you can prevent them, most of the time. I want to inspire them to be the leaders and assist the younger ones instead of being stuck up and rude,” said Huber.

The girls have two more games before their careers come to an end. Their last two games are on May 8 and May 9, against Tonganoxie and Bishop Ward, respectively.

“I’m very excited to see what the girls will do next season and who the seniors will be! I hope to come back and support them,” said Huber.
